The scenario you know
Your agency manages a multilingual website for a client. Content arrives in an Excel file delivered by the client or the translation team: one row per article or product listing, with columns per language.
title_en | content_en | title_fr | content_fr | title_es | content_esNow you have to enter all of this into the CMS. For each row, open the admin interface, create a new article or listing, fill in the title, body, slug, metadata — in English. Then switch to the French version and repeat. Then Spanish. Three rounds of copy-paste per row, for dozens or hundreds of entries.
If you have five multilingual articles to publish today, it's manageable. If you have sixty, it's a full day of data entry. And tomorrow the corrections come in, and you have to start over.
Why the usual solutions fall short
CMS import plugins (WP All Import, Drupal Migrate...) can import content from a CSV. But they require a very specific format — your Excel must match the expected schema exactly, with the right column names and the right structure. Each CMS requires its own mapping configuration. And they don't handle the nuances of language versions in Polylang, WPML, or Drupal Language.
CMS APIs (WordPress REST API, Strapi Content API, Drupal JSON:API) allow full automation — but require a developer to write the import script, maintain it, handle errors, manage authentication tokens, and deal with version differences. That's not what an agency needs for a one-off content migration.
Autonomous AI agents open a browser and publish content directly. For SEO content or product listings, you want to review before publishing — check formatting, validate slugs, confirm categories. An agent that publishes without showing you isn't the right fit for this use case.
DataToForm with your CMS
DataToForm opens your CMS admin interface in Chromium — exactly as you would do manually. It inspects the visible fields on the content creation page. The AI proposes a mapping between your Excel columns and the CMS form fields. You validate once. Then DataToForm pre-fills the form row by row.
You see the result in the browser window. You review it. You click "Publish" yourself. DataToForm never publishes for you.
That's the difference between a tool that works instead of you and a tool that works with you.
Think of DataToForm as a universal contribution assistant: it can read any web administration form — regardless of the CMS — and inject your data from Excel. You don't have to adapt your workflow to the CMS. The CMS adapts to you.
How it works in practice
-
Prepare your Excel file with one column per field per language:
title_en,content_en,slug_en,meta_desc_en,title_fr,content_fr, etc. -
Open DataToForm, upload your file, paste the URL of your CMS content creation page (e.g.
site.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpfor WordPress,site.com/admin/content/addfor Drupal). - Log in manually in the Chromium window. Your credentials never pass through DataToForm — you log in directly in the browser, exactly as you would normally.
-
Validate the AI-suggested mapping. Adjust if needed — for example, specify that
content_engoes into the main editor, andmeta_desc_eninto the SEO field. - Pre-fill row by row. For each entry, DataToForm fills the form. You review in the browser window, correct if needed, and click "Publish" or "Save" yourself. Then move to the next row.
For a trilingual site, you repeat the operation three times — once per language, with the corresponding column. The mapping for the second and third language is nearly identical to the first.
Compatible CMS platforms
DataToForm works with any CMS that provides a standard web admin interface. In practice:
- WordPress — classic editor (TinyMCE) and Gutenberg for text fields visible in the DOM
- Drupal — native content forms (nodes, custom fields)
- TYPO3 — standard backend (tt_content forms)
- Strapi — Strapi admin interface (Content Manager)
- Ghost — Ghost Admin (post editor)
- Any custom or proprietary CMS with a web admin interface
If the content creation form loads in a browser and has fillable fields, DataToForm can automate it.
Who it's for
- Digital agencies managing multilingual client websites who receive content deliverables in Excel
- Startups with international reach publishing content regularly in multiple languages, without a developer available to script the imports
- SEO teams producing localized product pages or articles at volume, with content spreadsheets to integrate
- Freelance translators who deliver translations and must enter them directly into the client's CMS
If you spend more than an hour a week copying and pasting from an Excel table into a CMS, DataToForm is built for you.
